Meet Mama J

Hi!! I'm Jeanette, but being mom of my two kids and many others that i've 'adopted' throughout life, I became MAMA J. I'm originally from a very small town in Michigan where I grew up dancing and modeling professionally. My modeling career took me to Italy for six months when I was 18 years old. That trip is truly what sparked my passion for cooking. After pursuing modeling I opened a dance studio that I owned and loved for 14 years before relocating to Los Angeles, CA in 2015 for my daughters career. I am a mother before anything, and with having kids my passion for cooking grew. My favorite memories consist of the whole family in the kitchen. The messiness, the chaos, the love, it makes my heart happy. It's become one of my biggest passions, and I've now decided to share a little bit of it with you all.

I've had so many people tell me that they would love to cook but they can't because it's too hard. They say cooking is so stressful and too expensive. One thing I have to say is that IT'S NOT!! Someone has got you fooled, because it can really be so simple. Cooking for me is my therapy, it's connecting with the earth and what it provides us. It exploring what I like and the flavors that make me happy. It's cooking to get 'Ugh its so good' or a smile out of someone. It's sitting around a table with close family/friends enjoying something we have made together. Cooking can be whatever you make of it, but for me it's the universal language that brings us all together.

I have created this line of spices from recipes I have been known for since my kids were young. They are my staples in the kitchen and my biggest hope is that they can get you in the kitchen, back in the kitchen, or just make your life a little bit easier knowing you have ready to go seasonings with no unwanted ingredients.
